The easy way to draw mandalas

The easy way to draw a mandala | www.hannahemilylane.com
It always upsets me a little when people apologise for not posting on their blog because they've had a lot going on: you shouldn't need to say sorry really, but I'm going to say it anyway. I'm in my final year of university and I've had a lot of deadlines recently, so I had to take a step back from blogging to focus on my degree. I just had a bit too much on my plate and unfortunately blogging was the thing I had to sacrifice, but I'm not ready to give up my little corner of the internet just yet, so thanks for sticking around!

I've been doing a lot of art lately to keep me sane and help relax as stress really affects me. One of my favourite things to do is draw mandalas and I've tried numerous ways, watched a few tutorials and experimented a lot. I've finally found a way to draw a perfectly neat and beautiful mandala which is so simple I thought I would share on my blog. If you try this method out, please let me know as I'd love to see how you get on with it!

Pleated Midi Skirt

Happy 2017...

I hope you've all had a good start to the new year.

I'm definitely feeling those January blues - the cold weather, looming essay deadlines and the upcoming term has got me feeling a bit meh. But I'm focusing on those positives.

In the last few months, I feel like I've really learnt a lot about myself and have started to 'find' myself (I hate how cliche that sounds...) I may do a whole blog post on this, but I've really started to find my personal style rather than trying to follow all of the trends we see all over blogs, Pinterest, Instagram etc. Most of them don't suit me anyway. This has really helped me to feel a whole lot more comfortable in myself and confident with my outfits.

Reflecting on 2016 and 2017 Goals

Reflecting on 2016 and 2017 Goals | www.hannahemilylane.com

I was scrolling my Bloglovin' feed earlier and it made me notably happy to see all the upbeat, optimistic and uplifting posts. New Years are clearly as inspirational and motivational to a lot of other people as they are to me.

For years, I've wrote New Years resolutions, some years they're more specific than others but I love having goals to look forward to and this year is certainly no different.

2016 has been an odd one. A lot of awful things have happened in the world this year that have certainly tested my faith in humanity. There has been too many undeserved and untimely deaths of talented people, and there has been too many questionable political happenings, but I won't go into that here. (If you want to see my thoughts on Brexit, you can read those here). But many remarkable things have happened too, such as the eradication of ebola and other major health breakthroughs, Leonardo DiCaprio finally got that Oscar, world hunger is at its lowest point in 25 years, Norway committed to zero deforestation, wild wolves have started coming back to Europe and giant pandas are no longer endangered.

For me personally, I'm not actually sure how to look back on 2016. It's been testing for me.

UPDATE: The Ultimate Blog Organisation Spreadsheet 2017 VERSION!
How are we doing guys? It's nearly Christmas!! I hope you're all feeling festive and happy :)

Just a quick post today. Back in May, after numerous requests, I created a template of my blogging spreadsheet to share with you all. It has been really popular and I've had a few people ask for an updated version so they can carry on using it for 2017. So here it is!

5 Things I'm Loving Right Now

5 Things I'm Loving Right Now | www.hannahemilylane.com
Hello world, I seem to have jumped back on the blogging train. It's not that I've run out of inspiration, you should see the length of my blog post ideas list, but it's the lack of time. And daylight. How do you all find time and enough light to take decent photos? Please tell me your secrets.

I've been so busy. It's my final year of university, so that has definitely been keeping me occupied, and that alongside working, trying to maintain a social life and not stressing myself out too much has kept me from finding time to blog. But yeah, here I am.

I've actually had an enjoyable few weeks. My sister came to visit last week and us two and Caitlin went to see Catfish & The Bottlemen. Despite the next level disorganisation from the train companies (note: 1 train to the venue with 1 carriage every hour is NOT enough, and having the last train at 22:30 is also not very convenient), it was SUCH a great gig. It's my second time seeing Catfish and they definitely did not disappoint. I also went home for a weekend which was really nice and it was good to chill out for a couple of days. I've had a couple of fun nights out, my best friend visiting, a shopping trip to Birmingham, another gig (keep reading for more about that) and I've just felt pretty content. I'm doing my best not to let Uni stress and post-uni-life worries get to me, and this post has helped to remind me that there are some lovely things in my life right now.

My New Bullet Journal Setup for University

Bullet Journal for University Setup | www.hannahemilylane.com

My favourite thing about starting a new academic year was always stationery shopping. In anticipation I bought a new bullet journal in my fairly large Paperchase haul just before university started, and I've finally finished my old one so I thought I'd give you a little, photo-filled tour of my new one.

My last bullet journal was quite different, as I was mostly working full time while using it, but now I am back at university I wanted it to be more study focused and less blogging/life focused (I also mostly organise blogging on my laptop anyway and it became a bit underused). I also wanted to incorporate more art, especially watercolour, as I love having an aesthetically pleasing bullet journal, it also gives me reasons to get my paints out which is very therapeutic. However I'm trying to keep my daily/weekly logs a lot more minimalistic and practical. I guess we'll see how this turns out!

University Room Tour

University student room tour | www.hannahemilylane.com

Another university year, another room tour post. I think one of my favourite things about starting a new year is having a new room to decorate and make my own. I love trying to make it as cosy and homely as humanly possible. I'm so happy with my room this year, I think it's my favourite so far and I wanted to share some snapshots of how it's turned out. I hope you're prepared for a lot of pics!
