I am always changing my hair up. I’ve been dying it since I was 13 and I’ve had almost every colour of the rainbow, though it was mostly red through my teens.
In May I decided I hadn’t been blonde since I was a child, so I’d quite like to try the balayage trend out and bleach my hair blonde for summer. Being in Germany and not quite brave enough to go to the hairdressers there, I ordered some dye online and did it myself over the course of a month. In the words of my hairdresser, it was “brave”.
Also probably a bit stupid. Bleaching your hair does damage it, even if you don’t notice it straightaway because of the hair masks and what not. I haven’t had my hair cut in 2 years and it had gotten really long, but with constant dying and bleaching it wasn’t a healthy long.
I wanted a change so last week I went to my hairdressers and showed them a picture of a long bob.
They tied my hair in a ponytail, and chopped. It was scary. But now my hair feels SO much healthier and thicker. They also dyed it a chocolate brown, close to my natural hair colour so I can try and maintain the good condition.
Going from hip length hair to shoulder length is a huge change, and though I really like my new hairstyle, I also loved having long hair. I love being able to curl and braid it.
Irresistible Me got in touch a while ago and they’ve kindly sent me some real hair extensions to try out.
I’m not new to hair extensions, I wore them all the time as a teenager because with my constant hair dying and also straightening/curling, I couldn’t seem to grow it the length I wanted. I’ve tried quite a lot of sets out, but honestly, these are my favourite so far.
They came in a box, which I know doesn’t sound like something worth pointing out, but normally I receive them in an envelope so I already knew these were going to be good quality. The packet the hair was in was split into two, which I think is a great idea. They give you a sample piece of hair in a separated section to test matches your hair colour, so if it doesn’t, you haven’t opened the bulk of the hair extensions and they can be exchanged for a different colour. This really takes the stress out of choosing the right colour.
I always go for clip in hair extensions as I want to be able to take them out and go back to having my shorter hair if I want. But I’ve also found hair extensions can be quite itchy, I haven’t found this with this set at all. They’re actually really comfortable to wear.
The most important thing to me with hair extensions is that they are real, 100% human hair. If they are synthetic, they will just melt as soon as you take a pair of straighteners to them. But with human hair you can style them exactly the same as your own hair, allowing you to dye them or straighten/curl them.
As soon as I took the extensions out of the packet, I could feel the quality of the hair. They were so silky soft, shiny and a gorgeous, rich colour. I chose 22” 200g in Medium Brown (#4), which is my normal choice but these just felt so much thicker than previous ones I’ve purchased. The clips are already attached which is amazing as attaching clips yourself is no fun at all.
In the set you get:
- 1 piece with 4 clips
- 2 pieces with 3 clips
- 5 pieces with 2 clips
- 2 pieces with 1 clip
which I found to be the perfect amount. There aren't pieces that are super wide so they fit my head well and I can place the clips well to blend the extensions into my hair.
I am really, really impressed with these hair extensions. The colour and quality of them are beautiful, the way they are packaged adds such a nice touch and I wouldn’t hesitate to order another set.
What do you think of these? Have you ever worn hair extensions?
