Hello world, I seem to have jumped back on the blogging train. It's not that I've run out of inspiration, you should see the length of my blog post ideas list, but it's the lack of time. And daylight. How do you all find time and enough light to take decent photos? Please tell me your secrets.
I've been so busy. It's my final year of university, so that has definitely been keeping me occupied, and that alongside working, trying to maintain a social life and not stressing myself out too much has kept me from finding time to blog. But yeah, here I am.
I've actually had an enjoyable few weeks. My sister came to visit last week and us two and Caitlin went to see Catfish & The Bottlemen. Despite the next level disorganisation from the train companies (note: 1 train to the venue with 1 carriage every hour is NOT enough, and having the last train at 22:30 is also not very convenient), it was SUCH a great gig. It's my second time seeing Catfish and they definitely did not disappoint. I also went home for a weekend which was really nice and it was good to chill out for a couple of days. I've had a couple of fun nights out, my best friend visiting, a shopping trip to Birmingham, another gig (keep reading for more about that) and I've just felt pretty content. I'm doing my best not to let Uni stress and post-uni-life worries get to me, and this post has helped to remind me that there are some lovely things in my life right now.
5 Of My Current Favourite Things:
Lush 'Sleepy' Body Lotion
I picked up this body lotion on a recent Lush haul on a Birmingham shopping trip and I absolutely love it. I've had so much trouble sleeping recently and I'm trying everything and anything which might help so I feel a little less zombified and the hints of lavender in this really appealed to me. It smells beautiful and the lotion itself is so moisturising. I use it every night before I jump into bed and my skin feels so soft in the morning. In terms of helping me sleep though, maybe I was being a bit too optimistic. Anyone got any suggestions?
Bring Me The Horizon
I recently saw Bring Me The Horizon in Birmingham on their tour. Honestly, it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I decided the night before to go so it was a bit spontaneous of me but it was definitely the right decision. I've loved BMTH ever since their earlier albums (anyone else used to listen to Count Your Blessings religiously in their teenage years?) and though my music taste has changed, they've also changed their sound and I still love their music. Their gig was so incredible. I had never listened to Basement before, and I'm really glad we saw some of their set and was introduced to their music, and DON BROCO were brilliant too. But the show that Bring Me put on was amazing. The energy and emotion in the venue was unbelievable and the lighting and effects brought it all together so beautifully. It was such a stunning and memorable gig.
I also can't stop watching them perform Doomed at the Royal Albert Hall. It's beautiful.
Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick 04 Soft Spoken
I'm not a massive wearer of lipstick, but I have found one brand that I can't get enough of and one liquid lipstick in particular has become a firm favourite. My sister borrowed it when she visited recently and it got her seal of approval (note: she's way more knowledgeable in the beauty world than I ever could be). It's so long lasting, I can wear it for an 8 hour shift at work, including during my lunch break, and it doesn't even need reapplying. It feels really nice on, not drying like some liquid lipsticks can be, and the colour is beautiful. It's not a massive statement colour, but it is a little statement, maybe like an interjection. It's a makeup interjection.
A couple of months ago I placed a Paperchase order, my only intention was to buy a replacement bullet journal but I ended up also buying some cute new panda highlighters, some jewellery, prints, sticky notes and some watercolours. I love drawing but I've never really tried watercolour painting until recently, so I really wanted to pick some up. Safe to say, I'm in love. I'm not brilliant, I need to practice a lot more but there's something so therapeutic about it.
Is anyone not obsessed with this?? I absolutely adore nature programmes and this is definitely not an exception. It now means Sundays are my new favourite day of the week.
